Yay! for new hairdos and yay! for Daddys!!

Mahalia and Shane got bit by the same stomach bug. Here they are sharing a recuperative nap. Check out Mahalia's pathetic napping position.

Grandma discovered that Mahalia can do an excellent full split.

Today it's snowy. Last Sunday it was 65-degrees. We took advantage of the warm weather and went to the Coney Island Aquarium. Mahalia was entranced by the baby walrus and even more entranced by the other children. Her father and I spent our time being googly eyed for Mahalia in her Aunt Lica's vintage pink puff-ball coat. I mean, really, can you get any cuter?

Father and Child Reunion

I might as well have been chopped liver.

Nana Love

Daddy abandoned us for 2.5 weeks. He enjoyed loads of espresso and pasta and smart brain-jazz and suffered thru long train rides with ill comrades. Back in Brooklyn, Nana got bossed around by a sassy 20-month old with incessant requests for pasta, cookies, crackers and popcorn. Having raised five children, she was completely unfazed by the toddler madness. Although she did say, "I don't remember any of you screaming no like that." I immediately and silently panicked that Mahalia might grow up to be mean but have calmed down since then.

Nana and Mahalia had fun together. Every day I'd come home to a happy baby who had learned new words like, moose and mouse and killy-killy (that's tagalog for armpit.) Nana helped me pin a quilt together and helped me sew these teeny little chicks from a pattern. Here are two pictures--one showing the quilt and the other showing Mahalia piling all of her toys on Nana.
